This hotel has a great location on the Valdez harbor and is adjacent to the main areas of town. The rooms were comfortable and functional. The nicest aspect of the hotel was the casual and friendly vibe. The staff were friendly, helpful and sociable. The hotel had a rustic ambiance. There was a decent common area and nice breakfast. It didn't have a guest laundry or exercise room, but the location made up for that. Overall, this was a good stay.

Great location. Spacious and comfortable. Television service was terrible. 2 remotes, no instructions, and after getting the direct TV to work, it kept freezing and started program over after it reset itself. However Cutter from the hotel was great. Very professional and helpful|Could also install some grab bars in the shower

This was good enough for what we were doing for two days. There’s no elevator and the desk employee was nice enough to help us up the stairs with bags. The rooms do not have ac which I get being it’s not that warm there but there’s no air …

Sort of a mixed bag. This appeared to be an older motel, so it was rather worn in places. The halls were a little smelly, but our room was clean and comfortable. We could hear music from the time we checked in until after 10:00, but were …

No elevator, but that was okay. Do have a shuttle van to and from the airport. Breakfast. Room was clean, relatively quiet, and loads of hot water in shower. Right on the harbor front, close to coffee, restaurants, and your boat if you’re fishing. Nice staff. Wanted to book another night, but had no space and had to book elsewhere.

The rooms were very clean. The restaurant and the breakfast were great. The people are extremely nice. The only complaint I have is the heat in the rooms. The fan they provide doesn’t blow very well so it’s very hot in the rooms. Even with that being said I’d stay here and eat here again. The restaurant is the wheelhouse I believe.

When booking our stay thru Best Western we specifically requested certain rooms. When we arrived the receptionist directed us to a 1st floor room overlooking the car park, no more than 3’ away telling us this was a harbour view room. The corridor outside the room stank of curry the room itself was musty and according to the room thermostat over 80 degrees. There is no a/c just a very basic little fan which requires you to open up the 3’ wide sliding window. With cars and trucks parked immediately below this window you are subjected to the fumes from vehicles parking here and the noise from those vehicles and their. occupants. Having informed the receptionist that this is not the room we requested she informed us there were no other rooms available. Calling Best Western Customer Service as a Rewards Member elicited only platitudes, an offer of 8,000 rewards points, or the penalty free cancellation of our reservation. When I spoke to a female supervisor by the name of L—A who had offered to cancel our reservation leaving us over 300 miles from home she asked if there was anything further she could do to help me. She then facetiously wished me a good day. The hotel was tired dated and tacky 16 years ago when we first visited and I’m afraid it has not improved. Torn furnishings, stained and grubby bathroom and tub.

No a/c. Room was warm and muggy. No hot water in the mornings. Front desk did very little to be helpful and had their cell phones propped on the front counter, watching them while assisting guests. Very outdated with less than effective repairs to previous damage. They were able to charge a crazy amount, for very little amenities because of location and lack of competition. Location is great-very close to the harbor.

The stay was nice. We had booked a harbor view and it was on the end with a great view. Apparently a lot of different harbor view rooms but ours was great. Their restaurant was closed for dinner on Sunday but a short walk to several others on the harbor. Breakfast had variety although most of the hot dishes weren’t hot.

I recently stayed for two nights at the Best Western in Valdez, AK, with my family of four, including two young children, and it was an absolute nightmare. From the moment we walked in to check-in, we were greeted by a strong, lingering odor of burnt cooking oil from fried seafood—an unpleasant welcome that set the tone for the rest of our stay. The hotel itself is in desperate need of maintenance. The corridors are dark, dingy, and poorly ventilated, creating a suffocating atmosphere that’s far from inviting. Our room was no exception to the neglect. The shower’s cartridge for regulating water temperature was broken, making it unusable. I reported this to the front desk first thing in the morning, but despite a follow-up reminder at 5 pm, nothing was done. The staff informed me that maintenance had left for the day and offered only one solution: changing rooms. With two little kids and all our belongings already unpacked, this was an impractical and frustrating hassle we shouldn’t have had to face. The problems didn’t end there. The rooms have paper-thin walls and ceilings, which became painfully clear when guests checked into the room above us at 2 am on the first night. Their movements woke up my entire family, robbing us of any chance of rest. To make matters worse, the heat thermostat in our room didn’t work, leaving the space uncomfortably hot. Opening the window for relief only exposed us to the constant noise of cars and buses from the adjacent parking area—a relentless soundtrack that kept us awake all night. This hotel offered no comfort, no peace, and certainly no sleep. It was an absolute hell, and I strongly urge others to stay far away from this establishment. Our family deserved better, and so do you.
