Forspoken postponed to October 2022

GamesBeat Summit 2022 returns with its biggest event for gaming leaders on April 26-28. Reserve your spot here!

Luminous Productions announced today that it is delaying its upcoming game, Forspoken (formerly known as “Project Athia”). The game has been moved from its original May release date to October 11, 2022.

The development team has announced the delay on Twitter† It did not specify why the game was delayed, saying, “Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers around the world want to experience in the coming years, so it’s extremely important for us to to do it right.” Luminous said it will “focus all our efforts on polishing the game.”

Forspoken follows the adventure of Frey Holland, who is somehow transported from the “real” world to the fantasy world of Athia. She and her talking bracelet, Cuff, must fight their way across the world using magic and combat.

This isn’t the first game of the year to be delayed. Rocksteady and Warner Bros. pushed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League back to 2023 last month.
