Western Colorado University invites applications for the full time position of Creative Manager and Lead Graphic Designer. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications, works closely with the content strategy team, and is responsible for being the lead project manager for all graphic design projects.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The Creative Manager and Lead Graphic Designer is responsible for supervising up to two (2) interns/student workers, coordination, designing and productions of a variety of University publications and marketing collateral. This person also creates or repurposes design concepts and layouts for the university’s community including photo selection, digital illustration, and font usage adhering to the university brand standards. Practices collaboration across all departments, as well as, faculty, students and other staff as necessary on projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Knowledge of design principles and reproduction processes. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of legal issues related to copyright and intellectual property. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines. Progressively responsible experience in graphic design, production and art direction. Experience organizing, coordinating and inspiring the work of other members of creative team as well as working independently to create and produce communications materials.Preferred Qualifications: Approximately a minimum of 4 years of creative and graphic design work. HTML and CSS experience. Knowledge of best practices in web design as related to user interface, usability, visual hierarchy, information architecture, browser and platform compatibility, and accessibility issues. Previous experience working in higher education.

Compensation: Salary range of $40,000 – $45,000 annually.
