Job Description : The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for an Graphic Design Specialist for the Southern Territory Headquarters, located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Job Summary
Originates graphic designs for a variety of print and digital projects in a fast-paced environment to support fund-raising efforts, special events, programs, and activities for the Southern Territory. Ensures that all projects meet The Salvation Army’s nationally approved graphic standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of principles and practices of printing techniques in order to assist in monitoring print jobs. Knowledge of desktop publishing techniques and the principles and practices of layout and design. Knowledge of general office practices and principles. Knowledge of Mac platform operating system. Knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service. Knowledge of The Salvation Army’s graphical standards for usage of the Army’s logos and elements. Working knowledge of current versions of Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat.. Skill in operating computer and scanner equipment. Skill in operating production-style printer and booklet creator Ability to proofread and pay close attention to detail. Ability to create visually compelling artwork for print and electronic projects Ability to work with clients and grasp clear understanding of the client’s needs. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work independently in order to meet final product expectations and deadlines. Ability to learn and understand the general practices, policies, and procedures of The Salvation Army. Ability to manage time effectively to comply with established deadlines.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Graphic Design or related field and two (2) years progressively responsible Creative Graphic Design artwork experience with demonstrated ability to work independently and successfully complete the full graphic development process from original draft concept to final product or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to type. Ability to operate a telephone, computer, camera, and desk-top publishing and scanner equipment. Ability to concentrate on detailed work for extended periods of time. Ability to perform and complete creative tasks in a flexible manner and under the pressure of tight deadlines. Work usually is performed in an open office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
