The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for an Events Marketing Director to join our leading Bay Area team.
Are you a designer at heart who loves to create all types of promotional materials from ads and event collateral to business proposals and social media activations? This opportunity combines those talents with the ability to work collaboratively with a driven team of staff and volunteers – all to move our lifesaving mission forward!
The Events Marketing Director designs, develop, and implements events marketing and related projects that elevate opportunities to secure new business, retain and grow accounts and develop significant corporate relationships. Collaboration with internal and external partners is key on all phases including communications, events marketing, budget management and sponsorship deliverables.
As part of this search, we will be asking applicants who participate in interviews to provide samples of their digital work. As we progress in interviews, we will invite applicants to share a portfolio that highlights their work and to participate in a short exercise relevant to the most critical aspects of the work. Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
Bring our mission to life through creative design!
Design, develop, implement, and evaluate marketing solutions for assigned events and sponsorship deliverables that drive revenue and brand recognition. In collaboration with internal partners, assess desired objectives and design and develop materials and presentations to meet those objectives in a compelling way.
Develop and produce presentations, concept briefs, advertising, videos, social media activation, sponsorship proposals and activation plans, materials and collateral, signage.
Serve as division lead for branding strategies and compliance related to special events.
In collaboration with internal partners, recruit, prepare and manage volunteer speakers. Prepare scripts for assigned speakers and events.
Manage and coordinate assigned projects, ensuring that all work products adhere to AHA policies and guidelines. Coordinate resources and communication to ensure that all internal and external stakeholders are informed and involved as needed for optimal achievement of project deliverables.
Develop schedule, plan strategy, and execute against timeline for meeting deadlines. Develop staffing plans and writes staffing guides for assigned events.
Develop, track, and adhere to event budget.
Continuously align priorities with broader division and regional goals and regularly communicate progress towards objectives with internal partners.
Ensure accuracy and adherence to current policies and practices of the AHA as they relate to branding, fiscal and event standards.

Qualifications
This is a graphic design position at its core . As part of this search, we will be asking applicants who participate in interviews to provide an initial writing sample. We respect and appreciate the time investment.
Experience and skills for success include:
5+ years’ experience in events-based graphic design, marketing and communications
Thorough knowledge of design software including Adobe InDesign and Canva
Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with proactive communication, thorough planning and execution and allocating/providing resources, additional support or training
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to consistently maintain a professional, calm and friendly manner in creating positive customer experiences externally and internally.
Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential issues that may impact organizational productivity and/or compliance and address proactively and timely
Effective project management and event management skills in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders
Experience in positively managing change including anticipating and championing organizational change, creating contingency plans, proactively considering short-term and long-term impact
Experience in negotiating services and managing service level agreements
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree may be preferred in supporting the required level of skill, knowledge and experience required
Knowledge of the AHA’s standards and procedures
Experience with sales or fundraising strategies
Experience managing staff and volunteers

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range is $64,680-$84,000.
Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
AHA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any difference between actual compensation and the posted range will be based on factors other than race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy)or national origin.
