Job Description : GRAPHIC DESIGNER – FOR CHILDREN’S HUNGER FUND, FAITH-BASED NON-PROFIT IN LOS ANGELES
Summary:
The Graphic Designer conceives, develops, and builds a variety of different types of creative assets (print, digital, web, and video) to support the Communications and Marketing strategies of Children’s Hunger Fund. This position will work closely with the Senior Graphic Designer in ideating and executing effective communications and consistency across brand materials. The Graphic Designer will ensure that all work is in alignment with CHF’s brand, mission, distinctives, and values.
Relates Closely With: Sr. Project Coordinator; Coordinator, Communications; Coordinator, Marketing
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Working with tight deadlines, take a project from ideation to completion, which includes preparing final files for print and digital
Understand and work within brand style guide.
Think creatively and develop new design concepts, graphic, and layouts, while maintaining the established brand style.
Design within templates and create new templates for increased efficiency.
Complete assigned tickets from CHF’s Creative Service Desk system by collaborating with the Sr. Project Coordinator to prioritize requests, communicating with internal clients clearly, repurposing/creating solutions to the requests and delivering pieces on time to internal clients.
Communicate and collaborate with supervisor and teammates on projects.
Organize media assets.
Participate in (and contribute to) meetings as appropriate including weekly all-staff meetings and department meetings.
Attend and participate in CHF events as needed and/or assigned, including: Volunteer Workdays, other special events such as banquets, receptions, etc.
Equipment:
Standard Office Equipment (telephone, computer workstation, printer, copier, scanner, calculator)
Apple Workstation with Adobe Creative Suite (CC), pen and touch tablet (e.g. Wacom Intuos)
Work Environment:
Primarily: office, churches, public venues, commercial establishments; Occasionally: warehouse
Physical Demands:
Constantly exchange accurate information whether verbally or in writing
Constantly operate a computer and other office machinery such as telephone, printer, fax
Frequently travel outside the office to churches, commercial establishments, public venues
Frequently work seated at a desk (at least 50% of the time) and for long periods of time such as for international air/ground travel as well as navigate uneven terrain by foot
Frequently move around inside the office to access files cabinets, attend meetings, utilize office machinery
Occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.
Occasionally set up and break down a display booth
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
Confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; active member of a gospel-centered, Christian local church; demonstrates ongoing growth in Christian maturity
Bachelor of Arts degree and/or other related certification or equivalent knowledge and experience
2+ years in professional commercial design
A diverse portfolio that exhibits excellent use of typography, color, imagery, and graphic elements
Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite CC with proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign; familiarity with Adobe XD, Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects (for Mac and/or PC) is a plus
Proficiency with print design, preparing files for print, and experience working with print vendors
Experience with digital design for social media, email marketing, and website creation
Additional experience with photo editing/coloring, a Digital Asset Management (DAM) tool, or project management system (Wrike) is a plus
Creative, detail-minded self-starter with a strong, clean visual design sense
Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate and collaborate on cross-functional teams and offer creative and effective solutions
Able to receive and apply constructive criticism from peers and clients
Proficient in Computers/Internet/Office with the ability to quickly learn new software applications
