Job Description : | Position Summary: The Graphic Designer is a key member of the three-person Marketing & Development Team. This position creates all of the print and electronic graphics for FSGC’s marketing, communications, and fundraising efforts. In addition, this position is also responsible for planning and executing agency fundraising and marketing events. No two days are ever the same in this role. However, each and every task associated with this position does benefit the thousands of children and families we serve in northeast Kansas. The best candidate for this position will be a creative graphic designer, an upbeat, organized master project juggler, and marketing pro who wants to make a difference in the lives of children and families. Essential Functions: Responsible for the conceptualization, design, execution and production of creative visual materials including but not limited to, posters, brochures, flyers, ads, event invitations, posters, direct marketing pieces, promotional items and annual report. Produce unique graphics for social media as well as the agency’s intranet and external websites. Plan, coordinate and carry out annual fundraising events, client art activities, special events and presentations. Work with Marketing & Development team to develop creative, original advertising and promotional campaigns for various media. Shoot still photos and shoot and edit videos for variety of marketing initiatives. Research and obtain photographs, artwork and illustrations as needed. Assist the Director in negotiations with vendors and contractors to coordinate print materials, special events, etc. Represent FSGC at community events and public speaking engagements at the request of the Marketing & Development Director. Advocate, market and promote FSGC’s image, services and activities using advertising, promotional and marketing techniques to encourage participation. Produce and execute email marketing campaigns using external email platform. Build support, approval and consensus among FSGC staff, members of the public, consumers and donors. Secure donations of art or other items for fundraising events/activities. Review and edit design items from outside sources for accuracy and quality control before submitting for approval to Marketing & Development Director. Ensure consistent branding and creativity with all FSGC marketing and fundraising materials. Maintain up-to-date knowledge about new technologies in the graphic arts field and make recommendations for improvements or changes. Respect and demonstrate the ability to maintain client and employee confidentiality. Support and actively promote the vision and mission of Family Service & Guidance Center. All other duties as assigned by the Marketing & Development Director. Education/Licensure: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, journalism, marketing or related field preferred. Must successfully pass the KBI, SRS Central Registry and all other background investigations. Must possess a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation Experience: Minimum of 1 year professional graphic design experience using Adobe InDesign Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat. Prefer 2 or more years of graphic design experience Prefer 2 years of marketing, public relations, and/or fundraising experience Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Advanced design and typography knowledge Demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced office environment while delivering quality work Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment Ability to prioritize multiple requests for information or completion Superior customer service, organization and communication skills Demonstrated capacity to adapt quickly to project changes Demonstrated experience in meeting deadlines and being detail-oriented Demonstrated strong planning and organizational ability Effective communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to manage time effectively Attention to detail and accuracy in work Open to learning and accepting feedback Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality Culturally respectful |
