The successful candidate is a visual storyteller who demonstrates excellent creative and communications skills. They interpret internal and external client needs to deliver materials with high visual and emotional impact. The successful candidate will provide support to multiple project managers, designers, and coordinators in a variety of design-related tasks throughout a project’s lifecycle.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Graphic Designer, we’ll count on you to:
Develop compelling, professional visual design that informs and educates clients, stakeholders, and the public about community projects
Interpret and distill highly technical information for easy understanding by mainstream audiences
Create a wide range of collateral for internal and external audiences, including traditional print graphics (exhibits, flyers, direct mailers; large-scale design reports; and technical and illustrative maps); digital graphics (social media posts, email campaigns, surveys, and presentations); support interactive media production (assets for animation, video); and branding (logos, style guides)
Produce files and materials in-house, and work with external print and/or production vendors
Research paper options, printing techniques, and digital media file preparation methods as necessary
Prepare files for output and meet with vendors to discuss and estimate projects
Ensure quality control through approval of proofs and review of materials
Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications
Required qualifications
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or combination of education and relevant experience
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Strong emphasis on digital design
Strong emphasis on data-driven and information design
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to create basic illustrations using vector-based illustration software
Ability to design within established standards and visual identity
Ability to handle multiple assignments and to set and meet deadlines
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
