Job Description : | Graphic Designer Toledo Zoo & Aquarium 2/23/2022 The Graphic Designer designs digital and print graphics to assist in visually supporting and enhancing our mission: Enjoy. Inspire. Educate. Act. Responsible for a range of projects including print, digital, web, illustration and exhibit design; while creating high quality, visual content from concept to production. Projects created will be featured on Zoo grounds, social media platforms and toledozoo.org. Hybrid/remote work an option for this role. Reports to Director of Visual Communications. Graphic Designer Responsibilities Include: Creates and designs print and digital projects that involve production, revisions, text changes, proofing, maintenance, and design of all components. Initiate design layouts and concept/create artwork, photography, typography, and other visual elements for designs. Design logos, icons and infographics. Create social media graphics to be posted through various platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. Produce digital content for email campaigns, social media campaigns, and other marketing and communication initiatives. Design projects may include merchandise, signage, membership packages, marketing/PR materials, digital content, banners and emails, exhibit interactives and presentation materials. Work within brand guidelines to create layouts and web design that reinforce a brand’s style or voice through visual touchpoints. Create responsive wireframes, webpage designs using user experience research and techniques. Work with full stack developer to ensure proper implementation within a web environment and consistency and integrity of the creative vision. Translate and create marketing requirements into compelling, appropriate campaigns and designs. Work with print agencies to obtain quotes, deliver files, approve proofs, perform quality control, and receive final delivery. Receives, reviews, prepares, and/or submits various reports and records including work orders, invoices, purchase orders, and general office correspondence. Create and organize production assets. Minimum Training and Experience Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design, visual communications, or related field and one to three years of experience in an in house design firm or agency setting. Knowledge and experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud software. Outstanding visual, written and verbal communication skills, along with presentation skills. Ability to provide a portfolio of previous work/projects for review that demonstrate solid foundation in typography, layout and design, strong problem-solving skills. Experience with transitions, animation, motion design and dynamic interaction a plus. Responsive design and e-commerce experience a plus. Basic coding knowledge/understanding a plus. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and requires forty hours per scheduled workweek. Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Zoo fleet insurance carrier.
