Job Description : | Job Description : Jr. Graphic DesignerReports to: Studio Graphic DesignerEffective date: January 1, 2022FLSA status: Non-Exempt, FTPosition SummaryThe Jr. Graphic Designer (JGD) is accountable to the Senior Graphic Designer (SGD) and Project Manager (PM) and is responsible for understanding client’s brands and needs and will assist in generating submittal packages, production files and any other PAG graphic design needs.We are looking for our next team member to grow with us. Come work in a fast paced, upbeat environment! Applicant must have past experience working as a graphic designer in the sign industry. You will be working collaboratively to carry projects from concept to completion. Must have general signage knowledge. Please do not apply unless you have an understanding of how signage is made.Essential ResponsibilitiesUsing computer applications to create signage designs with detailed construction drawings for Channel Letters, Monuments, Pylons, Etc., Logos and Identity development, and other in-house design needs.Must be detailed orientated with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure with multiple deadlines. Must have the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; maintain the confidentiality of data.Collaborate with team members across the Project Studio to develop project drawings that achieve the client vision and company agreement.Attend and shadow SGD during client facing meetings to under the needs of the project scopeAssist in generating new ideas for the projects by doing research with vendors, collaborating with internal teams on best build options and presenting findings to the SGD and PM for implementation into projects.Enforce PAG Design Standards (for both client and internal use) consistentlyCollaborate with SGDs from various studios to understand workflow and capacity, Assist team members as neededAttend weekly Studio Team Meetings and share any updates, issues or general feedback with the teamAssist in generating RFP Packages as requested by Sales ManagerCollaborate with production team to understand fabrication methods, materials and machine operations.Perform any other duties as assigned by the Design LeadOperational EffectivenessCheck Airtable daily, evaluate assigned design tasks and collaborate with team members to correct in entriesTrack time of all design tasks via Quickbooks Time; clock into correct projects and Design Codes; review timecard at the end of each day for accuracyGenerate proof and submittal packages per PAG Design Standards (for both client and internal use), as assigned by PM or SGDGenerate message schedules, signage location plans and production files with appropriate labeling and documentationCreate evacuation floor plan drawings, permit drawings and paper prints for inspectionsSubmit all completed production file requests to SGD in AirtableSubmit all PDFs for review to PM via AirtableAccountable for managing workload, as assigned by the SGDResponsible for communicating any issues, questions, or potential timeline obstacles to the SGDDemonstrating efficient time management skills by executing design scope within expected time frames, as assigned by PM or SGDMeeting timeline/deadline expectations by immediately communicating any challenges to SGDJr. Graphic Designer is expected to notify SGD or PM via Microsoft Teams should any due dates need to be adjustedResponsible for proofreading own work using internal review checklists; save checklists to be saved in Project / Design directoryHybrid work model. Primary location will be Redwood City however may be asked to travel to San Francisco as needed.Qualifications, Skills and AbilitiesBS degree in graphic design or related fieldMinimum of 2 years’ experience in design or graphic projectsProficient in Microsoft applications including MS Teams, Dropbox and AirtableAdvanced knowledge of San Francisco Fire Department Evacuation Map guidelinesExperience with CorelDraw, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite and 3D ProgramIntermediate knowledge of California Building Code / ADA standards in order to successfully generate compliant signage and drawing packagesMust have strong verbal and written communications skillsOrganized and self-directed, able to manage multiple projectsWorking Conditions and Physical DemandsThis position is administrative in nature.
