Job Description : | Description Visual Information Specialists design, produce, and finish static visual presentation products. Visual Information Specialists apply broad knowledge of design principles to communicate concepts or ideas visually. Visual Information Specialists work with analytic authors and dynamic production teams to provide a full range of support in the production and dissemination of finished geospatial intelligence and to provide guidance for the design, layout, color management, and presentation of graphics. Visual Information Specialists also troubleshoot production issues, share expertise, and assist with performing peer reviews. VIS’ use a variety of software suites, formats, and databases to accomplish their mission, which includes determining the appropriate reporting mechanism for conveying GEOINT to NGA’s external customers and managing the production of NGA GEOINT products. Essential Functions: Design graphics for and review NGA standard products: NGA Intelligence Briefs, NGA GEOINT Notes, briefing materials and visual aids, and other products, as required. Work with customers to design intelligence graphics that clearly and accurately convey the intelligence story. Understand design principles and elements, typography, text layout, and color theory to create custom products as needed. Provide guidance to customers on the design, layout, and presentation of their products. Create custom graphics by translating complex data into easy-to-understand visuals. Archive and disseminate products following established guidelines. Attend regularly scheduled production support meetings and stay current with ongoing production support initiatives. Perform pre-publication quality reviews at various stages of the production process. Utilize knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite to generate graphics in support of NGA products. Utilize knowledge of design principles, web and multimedia technologies, MAPublisher and ArcGIS, structured authoring software’SGML, XML, and HTML in support of NGA products. Verify and resolve classification provided by analysts or direct them to classification experts. Demonstrate customer service excellence by clearly and concisely communicating work status, methods, instructions, problems, requirements, options, and concerns with team members, managers, and Government customers within NGA and the IC. Participate in meetings with Government customers, team members, Contractors, etc., to exchange information, and/or provide updates. Support the office in accomplishing the overall mission, including expediting crisis work, special assignments, and ad hoc tasking on variously scheduled arrangements. Utilize familiarity with the US Intelligence Community and GEOINT to support the generation of NGA products Qualifications: At least three years of relevant multi-media experience. Knowledge and experience in development of rich interactive multimedia products and electronic publishing tradecraft. Extensive experience with commercial publishing applications including: Adobe Flash, Adobe Flex, HTML5, ArcGIS, FTP, Google Chrome DevTools, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, and structured authoring software. Experience with video and audio editing software such as Adobe Premiere and Flash Video Encoder. Experience in system applications, database designs, database programming, and networking skills. Ability to incorporate audio, video, graphics, and textual data to create highly advanced presentations. Familiarity with the US Intelligence Community and GEOINT.
