SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE The Multimedia Graphic Designer is responsible for the plan, conceptualization, and execution of designs for a wide range of traditional and digital communication tactics. The Designer produces informational and communication graphics primarily for published, printed, and digital media. Designs are used to introduce, promote, train, encourage, inform, and otherwise assist in the marketing of public transit options used for community outreach efforts. The Designer works as an administrator to company websites, managing content, design, and functionality. This position performs design duties and provides departmental support aimed at reducing single occupant vehicle use through the development and implementation of programs that build awareness of the benefits of public transit and other sustainable transportation options. The Multimedia Graphic Designer collaborates with all departments and third-party vendors to ensure stakeholders experience communications as useful, accessible, timely, accurate and inclusive. Accountabilities and Essential Functions: Design and produce communications for a wide range of mediums (including print and digital) for marketing and training purposes: Produce artwork and layouts for written publications and digital communications and other visual materials; research and obtain photographs, artwork, and illustrations to be used. Review and obtain feedback on content from subject matter experts. Review, mark up, assemble final layouts, and coordinate production for print vendors or websites. Ensure ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance for all customer information resources including print and digital communications. Follow projects from inception to implementation including design, layout, specifications, production, and procurement. Research and compile information from relevant sources to aid in the creation of layout and design materials. Organize and maintain department graphic files, including logos, photos and art, and route and schedule guides. Design and develop visual training materials and conduct training sessions for website visitors and internal content editors and other business units as needed. Administer website content, design, and functionality for website visitors: Ensure websites and other digital customer facing tools are intuitive and easy to use. Work with department managers and subject matter experts to assist with content accuracy and ADA compliance. Establish, maintain, and distribute website related documentation, style guides, editorial standards and content accuracy. Develop, analyze, and distribute reports on website performance, and implement changes to improve outcomes. Provide web content management system training for team members as needed; create and maintain procedures and job aides. Build and edit basic and complex pages in web content management system. Develop and lead communications planning and production schedules for annual service proposals and approved changes: Oversee subject matter experts content review cycles to ensure deadlines are adhered. Ensure feedback and final content approvals are completed prior to production. Ensure content requiring translations is submitted to translation service vendor. Negotiate and establish production deadlines with vendors. Assist in the planning, development and implementation of advertising/promotional campaigns and strategies: Coordinate with and provide backup assistance to other members of the Community Relations Department. Participate and assist with special events and public outreach. Develop new and revise existing marketing communications for advertising and promotional campaigns. Attend and lead project meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and vendors: Ensure that effective communication takes place at every phase of every project. Align business needs with and accomplish desired project outcomes. Define project objectives and ensure quality standards are met and deadlines are achieved. Coordinate resources to ensure consistent communication regarding project timing, deliverables, changes, and updates. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Associates Degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum 5 or more years of experience in graphic design and layout. Excellent oral and written communication ability with advanced knowledge of design principles, techniques and tools involved in the production of illustrations and layouts. Ability to remain abreast of technological advances in the graphic design field and identify areas of use within the organization. Experience working with printers to quote and manage print jobs preferred. Ability to be creative and original, and to devise clever or unusual ideas and solutions to graphic issues. Strong working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, HTML, and CSS design. Analytical/problem solving ability with the ability to imagine how something will look before it is constructed. Experience with a proven technical background and aptitude for the internet and multiple digital communication tools and technologies (SEM, SEO, GTFS, CRM platforms, etc.) Hands-on experience with web content editing and CMS platforms. Critical thinking and troubleshooting: using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Ability to work constantly with detail, including the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color, brightness, and intensity. Ability to memorize and retain detail. Ability to work on multiple, concurrent tasks with frequent interruption. Ability to develop specific goals and plans to accomplish work and to assess performance or take corrective actions, as necessary. Ability to work under periodic stress and to concentrate on a task over time without being distracted. Ability to manage time effectively and be flexible with workloads in order to meet deadlines. Ability to maintain regular external customer contact and frequent internal communication with managers and other employees. Ability to effectively communicate ideas through speaking or writing. Ability to work independently with occasional supervision. Ability to perform as an effective team player and to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
