FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Position Description: To create excellent graphics for branding Rockford Park District facilities, programs, services, and departments. Responsible for creating awareness, attracting new customers, and reinforcing the Rockford Park District brand image with powerful visual impact.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Designing and/or updating flyers, posters, postcards, handbooks and print ads
Redesigning flyers and posters into other sizes for various print and web use
Preparing publication files for a print shop (internal and external)
Collecting and/or creating design assets for other designers, such as photos, logos, data, charts and graphs
Handling photo requests based on prioritization of marketing goals/campaigns
Gathering and preparing photos for various print and web use
Editing and organizing new and existing photos
Scheduling and performing photo shoots at various RPD parks, facilities, programs, and events
Scheduling and performing portrait and staged photo shoots in (amateur) department studio
Using and maintaining studio lights and backdrops
Participating in informational/planning meetings for various projects
Utilizing the project management system, Basecamp (www.basecamp.com), to post drafts and communicate with staff about projects
Operating digital press, cutting, and folding machines as needed to support Print Shop operations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in Graphic Design preferred, and 2-4 years experience working professionally in a design and/or photography field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Available to work up to 40 hours per week, typically weekdays between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, but some night and weekend photography assignments
Must have personal transportation and a valid Driver’s license.
Must understand and have knowledge of the difference between raster and vector images.
Must possess a natural ability to relate in a friendly manner to people (subjects) participating in photo shoots, and enjoy taking photos of people and the outdoors
Mac based computers, MS Office and/or iWork programs, Internet, basic office equipment, printer, Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud (core programs include: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop), digital camera (can use own equipment), flash, studio lights, backdrops/green screen
