Job Description:
The UX Designer will be a core member of our talented Design team, helping work across projects and incubators to provide design excellence and a human-centered design approach.
In this role, the designer will play an important part in supporting the strategy and development of new products, and applying best practices for graphics, navigation, organization, and interaction design.
We are looking for someone with a desire to participate in radical collaboration, have a bias towards action, the ability to embrace failure and demonstrate intellectual curiosity and someone who can play, learn, and have fun. Design nerds, in particular, are particularly desired, especially those who think the world would be a better place if we improved kerning.
Primary Responsibilities
Design mood boards, storyboards, interactive page layouts, site grids, wireframes, interface demos, flow charts, and photo retouching and enhancements
Create strong graphic layouts based on concepts developed by Incubator teams
Brief extended teams and manage deliverables according to relevance, schedule and budget
Reduce complex user interface issues using innovative tools
Collaborate with technology colleagues on design feasibility
Partner with clients on business goals
Participate in brainstorming and other idea-generating team sessions
Maintain high quality on creative and presentation deliverables
Multi-task and work efficiently under pressure
Contribute to a design culture and to the Design team
Skills and Knowledge
Solid grasp of Human-Centered Design and Design Thinking methodologies and UX design skills are a must
UX Research focused on empathy
Defining the “right” problem
Design Thinking process
Utilizing the right frameworks
Strong visual design skills with solid foundation in typography, layout, and general design
Strong knowledge of interaction design and methodology
Highly detail oriented
Ability to transfer design skills to multiple channels
Creativity, curiosity, imagination, and a sense of humor
Executive presentation and negotiation skills at a large organization
Detail-oriented and highly developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Expert skills in Figma, Sketch, Adobe CS (primarily Illustrator and Photoshop), Adobe UX Pin,
Encompass knowledge of animation, motion design and dynamic interaction skills
Demonstrated experience using web analytics to inform design decisions
Solid working knowledge of the latest versions of design programs
Knowledge of HTML/dHTML and the other capabilities of Web browsers is a plus
Knowledge of prototyping software such as Sketch, UXPin, Figma,
Education and Experience
Four-year degree (degrees from design, architecture, filmmaking or other arts programs a plus)
5+ yrs experience as an UX designer, industrial, graphic designer, information architect, or similar role
Online portfolio is a must
Demonstrated experience with design and strong interactive/digital work
Experience with both web and mobile design
Desirable but not mandatory:
Experience with large company, co-branded websites with B-to-B and B-to-C platforms
Familiarity with large, transaction-oriented websites
Familiarity with financial services and education |
