We’re excited to open up an opportunity for a design professional to join our team as a Senior Environmental Graphic Designer. This will be a remote position based out of Southern California, to assist with our growth and expansion in that area.
The core function of the Senior Environmental Graphic Designer is to develop highly engaging designs that help build our client’s brand through brand development, environmental graphics, architectural features, wayfinding strategy and immersive / artful experiences. The Senior Environmental Graphic Designer will often lead multifaceted projects of higher complexity through the design process, from initial ideation through design development. This role also works closely with the VP of Design to develop ideas and strategies that support our client’s vision. A Senior Environmental Graphic Designer may work independently, but most often will work collaboratively with the Creative Design team. This role supports the Design-Build process by managing their own day-to-day tasks, adhering to project schedules and budget, and working with WeidnerCA clients and vendor partners to Create Amazing experiences.
This is a salaried position with performance bonus incentives. Previous experience and qualifications will be a factor in determining the successful candidate’s starting compensation.

Job Description
Requirements
5 – 7 years of designer experience in environmental graphics design, industrial design and/or interior architecture
Extensive knowledge of developing intuitive wayfinding strategies
High proficiency with digital workflows (MS Teams, iPad sketching, Online Project/Task Management apps)
High proficiency in ADA and California Building Code compliance requirements
High proficiency in reading architectural floor plans
High proficiency in the following software: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Filemaker Pro, Google Suite
3D modeling and rendering experience is highly desired
Revit experience is highly desired
Accountable For
Project research, scope development and information management of Creative Design projects
Developing design from concept through DD100
Production design of brand and marketing collateral
Staying up-to-date on design, tech, software and creative trends
ADA / CBC code compliance
Creating and adhering to project schedules
Basic Art Direction
Proposal / scope and hour development support
Responsibilities
1. Creative Design
Ideate independently and collaboratively
Provide Design Direction support on smaller projects
Develop new ideas and refine them through the design process.
Self-perform design research to fully understand and comprehend the parameters of a project and the client’s vision.
Performing code compliance research as it pertains to ADA, CBC, and any local/regional ordinances for compliance.
Develop Design Drawings from initial ideation stages, all the way through to construction level drawings.
Prepare visual support collateral for client presentations
Support internal brand marketing strategies
Perform site surveys and fact-gathering site visits
Attend client meetings as needed
2. Team Collaboration
Collaborate with WeidnerCA teams to develop ideas and designs.
Maintain communication of task and project updates with the VP of Design, Project Management and Business Development team.
Provide guidance on design intent and work with Design-Engineering to refine drawings
Review drawings and designs with the Estimating / Operations teams to ensure buildability and budget adherence.
Provide VP of Design with support on proposal and scope development, hours estimation and WeidnerCA special projects.
3. Project Ownership
Managing and organizing the flow of information on your assigned projects
Maintaining awareness of project milestones and communicating updates to VP of Design, Account Executive and Administrative Project Manager
Maintaining a log of project updates within our online Project Management tool
Present to concepts and submittals to clients and support the Business Development team on design-related presentations
4. Task Management
Assigning tasks yourself and communicating changes to the team scheduler.
Task descriptions should be clearly written to include details of what needs to be done in bullet form.
Task descriptions should also include who needs to review the tasks.
Tasks should have plenty of buffer between the scheduled due date and hard due date to allow for corrections and reviews.
Ensure tasks are completed per the assigned deadline.
Manage time spent on tasks per allocated time.
Communicate any changes and/or indicate if tasks will take longer than intended.
Gather information as necessary to complete a task including, but not limited to:
Design research related to the project/task
Special parameters to work within
Imagery
Copy
And all other specifications that pertain to the specific task and/or project.
Log task / project specific updates in our online project management tool.
