Our solar powered headquarters are located in Santa Ana, CA.Role Summary: Do you love stationery and beautiful surface pattern design? We are seeking a technically experienced and design savvy Senior Designer with a depth of experience in prepress and production to play a major role in bringing our products to market. Our ideal candidate is highly organized, technically skilled, has a keen eye for detail, and enjoys getting creative. Reporting directly to the Creative Director, you will primarily create press-ready files, design layouts, and manage/create our bi-annual, printed and digital catalogs. Our Art Department is a small team and we are looking to add a multi-talented individual who, in addition to your primary projects, can rise to the challenge and pitch in where needed. Additional responsibilities will include creating presentations, photography, making digital or physical product mock-ups, staying current on industry trends, and playing a key role in departmental brainstorm sessions. Bonus skills would be the ability to create surface pattern designs, illustration and/or hand lettering!Requirements: · Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working as a Production Artist and/or Graphic Designer in a similar role.· A well-rounded portfolio that highlights a clear understanding and use of pre-press best practices for setting up error-free, print-ready files, with proper bleeds, dies, special treatments, etc. for mass production.· Strong typographic skills, design fundamentals, and an eye for balance and detail. These qualities make you skilled at seeing and correcting any issues in a file during the pre-production process.· Experience in creating printed catalogs for lifestyle or creative brands, and/or marketing materials utilizing similar skills.· A fast learner who is able to work independently, multi-task, and has above average time management skills – making them able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.· Extensive working knowledge, and expert use of, Adobe Creative Cloud Programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat.· MS Office knowledge including the ability to use Word, Excel, Outlook.· Extremely creative, with the ability to come up with and present fresh ideas and concepts.· Illustration, surface pattern design, and/or hand lettering experience are highly preferred, but not required.Job Duties: · Prepare production-ready, error free, art files for products, packaging, POP, and other purposes.· Leadership role in creating our bi-annual 100+ page printed and digital catalogs. This will require expert use of Adobe InDesign, best practice file set-up, fresh layout ideas and catalog design concepts, ideation for and execution of catalog photography, managing large amounts of information and liaising between multiple departments to bring everything together.· Art creation, art layout and art editing for use in our product line, and to fit various templates.· Researching and keeping up to date with industry and broader trends in order to develop and create seasonal, or customer specific, trend guides and mood boards.· Additional responsibilities can include: creating printed and digital marketing materials, product collection sheets, fliers, digital product mock-ups using templates, printed, hand embellished physical mock-ups, styling and shooting planned or impromptu photos, organizing digital or physical art/file archives, reviewing artist submissions, and creating content for social media.· Being an integral part of a small, collaborative team that strives to create a fun and inspiring work environment.Benefits offered: · Paid Holidays and Accrued PTO· Health insurance· Retirement benefits or accounts· Employee discount*Applications without a portfolio will not be accepted.
