Job Description : Overview

Maintaining nearly 15,000 acres, the Orange County Parks and Recreation Division operates 109 parks, trails, boat ramps and facilities, including 14 recreation centers. Our parks provide space for citizens, families and visitors to enjoy and explore the outdoors and to participate in numerous activities ranging from camping, fishing, youth and adult sports, senior activities, youth enrichment activities, fitness centers and a full calendar of year-round special events.
This position provides full service graphic design, production and photography for the Parks and Recreation Division under the direction of a Program Manager. This position may also provide graphic art and design support to the Mayor’s Office, Board of County Commissioners and other County Departments and Divisions, as needed.

Representative Duties

Completes graphic design for Division programs and events, including special design and production requests for site operations to include signage, banners, brochures, flyers, social media, etc. All designs must be in conjunction with county requirements and overall County image and brand.
Acts as layout artist for the Parks newsletters, brochures, Infographics and County web pages.
Assists with the oversight of design, print standards and branding/style guidelines for Orange County Government and ensures the standards are current and available to team members and designers throughout the County.
Provides art direction, graphic design advice and expertise to other members of the Parks team and ensures all work produced falls within regulations.
Consults with customers on graphic design photographic and printing needs and recommends solutions.
Completes or oversees graphic design for custom logos, web graphics or any other print or web materials and invitation designs for Parks and Recreation functions.
Performs occasional copy editing and proofreading tasks.
Accesses the County’s document filing system to include, but not limited to, logos, district maps, county portraits and official signatures.
Develops posters and displays for Parks and Recreation.
Collaborates with the County staff photographer.
Maintains software for Mac computers. Advises other members of team on software changes and updates.
Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Art, Fine Art, Graphic Design or a closely related field and three years of professional experience in the graphic arts field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above education and experience.

Extensive knowledge of various printing processes, drawing, and painting; design theory, web design and photography.

Expert knowledge of graphic design software.

Preferences

Excellent communication skills
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and the use of cameras
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
Ability to maintain Macintosh computer network and multiple printing interfaces
Knowledge of ADA remediation and compliancy
