Lumen seeks an experienced graphic designer with strong web design capabilities to join the Design Team in our in-house global marcom agency.
The right person will comfortably wear the many hats of great web design, including boundless creativity and technical practicality. Your work will be beautiful and buildable, to achieve clearly defined business goals for everyone on modern devices and browsers. This mean collaborating with many people on many teams to really understand what’s needed, and what’s possible. Sometimes this will mean building and working with rigid templates, other times it will mean pushing beyond traditional styles or technology to find new ways to surprise and delight visitors to our site.
As part of a collaborative, creative and supportive Design Team, you’ll never be alone, even while working remotely. However, you’ll be required to pace yourself and manage your own schedule, reach out for help when problems arise, and meet milestones and deadlines without fail.
Beyond web design, you’ll also have opportunities to design static and animated digital advertising, and event and presentation assets, while learning and growing as a designer and a member of the team and company.

The Main Responsibilities
Design beautiful, informative, engaging and effective web pages, landing pages, microsites, forms and other online assets
Ensure all designs work and look great on major devices and platforms
Pursue clear, easy-to-navigate, fully accessible, legible, next-gen patterns
Adhere to our brand and design standards; maintain site-wide consistency
Design within internal and overall technical capabilities
Collaborate with a cross-functional, distributed teams that includes UX designers, Art Directors, copywriters, developers, project and campaign managers
Conceptualize and offer creative solutions for innovating, improving and optimizing the website
Explore and pursue innovative design and interactivity to engage more visitors and help separate us from our competition
Help translate internal requirements, user needs, interactive possibilities and technical requirements into designs that are visually enticing, easy to use, and emotionally engaging
Stay in the loop and on top of the latest standards, changes, trends in visual and web design fields
What We Look For in a Candidate
2+ years of experience designing cross-browser, device agnostic, fully responsive and accessible websites
Strong experience translating Adobe XD wireframes into next-level visual experience
Strong understanding of capabilities and limitations of HTML and CSS (i.e. divs, classes, IDs, flexbox); ability to code demos or troubleshoot existing pages a strong plus
Understanding of device and browser limitations
Visualize “mobile” while designing for desktop
Strong understanding of design principles as they apply to the web (typography, form, color, composition, grid, load time, image optimization, etc.)
Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to design multiple elements that align with the current corporate brand identity
Ability to follow direction, multi-task, work on several priorities while meeting deadlines
Excellent communication, collaboration, problem solving and organizational skills
Extreme attention to detail and consistency
Must be able to clearly articulate ideas and show creative process
Previous collaboration with Adobe Experience Manager developers and UX designers a plus
Experience with, or interest in advertising design and animation
Work at an agency or in-house at a major brand a plus

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
