Hotel: great set up and view very clean overall. Loved the history and local artifacts on the 2nd floor. Great staff at the front desk, wait staff was short staffed and food took a little longer to get to us than I would like, but it was amazing. The tram was a nice touch and not something you can experience other places. I appreciated the staff warning us Thursdays was a rough day to be downtown. They also were spot on about food choices in the area.

Loved this lodge in Ketchikan! The location is perfect. The views of the town and harbor are amazing. It's very close to downtown which makes it convenient and it's just far enough away to be out of the way when the cruise ship zombies take over the city. The restaurant is pretty hit and miss as far as the service and food go. The shuttle makes getting to and from the airport/ferry and town super easy and convenient and the drivers are very helpful and knowledgeable. The front desk staff was also very nice and helpful. Highly recommend

Stayed twice over last week. The good: Restaurant food excellent (both main restaurant and pizza restaurant). Wait staffs overburdened when crowded and service suffers. Needs management/oversite. Views from hotel are awesome. Laundry facilities nice. Improvements needed: Stayed in room 330 - sink drain slow / mostly plugged. Stayed in room 228 - both sink drain AND shower drain slow / mostly plugged. Room 228 bathroom not completely clean when we were assigned room. One dirty towel, trash on floor. Unusual for such a nice lodge NOT to have complimentary hot coffee available in lobby for the fisherman, adventurers, tourists and travelers that get an early start. Suggest putting out a couple of coffee pots & cups at 5:30 AM. through check-in start time.

Rooms are nice. The hotel is nice. We were attending an event at the center across the parking lot so we asked if we could check out late at 11:45 because we planned to have lunch at the lodge before attending the event at 1. They told us no. I work for a hotel chain and know there is no reason you can’t permit a guest an extra 45 minutes. Seemed very discourteous. So we went to lunch early at 11 in the lodge dining room. Turned out we needed the extra hour because the service was the absolute slowest I’ve ever experienced. The dining room had only a couple of tables full when we arrived so they weren’t busy. It was really bizarre. Food was good not great. Location is not convenient unless you have a car. The cable car was not working so we had to hike up a huge hill to get there.

Best views in the city. Food was fresh. I had the fish and chips. The chips were crispy and tasty. The slaw was very good with a vinaigrette dressing. Of course the halibut was awesome. Good size portions too!

The only downside is that the tram to the lodge still isn't fixed. They are really good about offering transportation via the van. We did the trail up and down, which was fine for us to get those steps in. The view is beautiful, the staff is nice. They came to pick us up at the airport, which was great. The in hotel restaurant was very good. And they were nice to let us grab a late dinner very close to closing. The grounds are beautiful. Once you're down all the steps, the lodge is very centrally located.

Nice looking establishment, but run cheaply. Rooms smell faintly of cigarettes, laundry service is coin-op and the machines don’t work. Management was more concerned with keeping the 20$ I spent on laundry than actually addressing the issue of my laundry coming out of the machines dirty. Restaurant had premium pricing for frozen, pre-made menu options. Stairwells all currently in a state of perpetual remodel. Building is too warm at night, and walls between rooms are poorly soundproofed. Service staff are largely absent, and when you do get their attention they seem overwhelmed and overworked. All stinks of bad management, bit of a money grab.

Thank you to Ms. Lhyza and the staff members that worked to help myself and others check into the rooms last minute after airline cancelations. Also thank you to her for booking early morning shuttle service. The lodge has a beautiful view of the town, from the restaurant. The food was good, the service was even better and the rooms were clean with ample amenities.

The people who work the tram up and down are rude as can be. We visited and told the lady older gal blonde hair at the bottom today that we wanted to eat at the lodge she told us we had to wait 20 min for tram to come back down it was 2pm we waited then paid and went up to find out the restaurant is closed till 4pm no heads up or anything we spoke to the person at the top younger lady black hair (there was another 4 people that rode the tram as well to eat at the lodge restaurant) was rude not even an apology and when asked do we have to pay again to go down we were informed yes with an attitude. Management needs to get with employees and retrain you staff keep in mind this is the 1st impression of your restaurant. Normally I don’t leave reviews but the could care less attitude was uncalled for.

A bit disappointing... The menu. It has changed many times unfortunately. I went there with my child tonight excited to order the lemon caper chicken dish which is my go to just to see they changed the menu once again and don't serve it any longer. Not just that but they didn't even have a chicken for protein supper option. I went without eating myself and just ordered a meal for my child. I think this will be the last time we come to Cape Fox which I wish wasn't the case but I like consistency at a restaurant and this establishment just doesn't make that cut. I've lived in Ketchikan since 2011 and have watched this restaurant change a handfull of times always loosing the meal that I fall in love with. Our server was very professional and nice to speak with. He told me they had gone through changing the menu a few times due to changing cooks. I said, your Cooks get to decide your menu? He said yes. I was very shocked to hear this since this is not a 5 star restaurant with a renowned chef who should then be doing just this. This is a very bad move on this restaurants part if they are indeed letting their cooks dictate their establishments menu like this. It's a shame because I love the view and staff is always polite and cheerful but if I'm not able to depend on the menu there is no point in returning any longer.
