I had the BEST surgery experience ever when I had my first surgery there 9/24. I am originally from Birmingham and have only lived in Gadsden since Dec.2012 and have only worked and had several surgeries at the "other" hospital. I had a right thyroidectomy w/ Dr. Echeverri and for the 1st time I do not remember anything after leaving the holding area. I had the BEST anesthesia experience! No post-op nausea and ABSOLUTELY no sore throat! I was totally amazed! I am an RN of 26yrs with about half of that working in surgery. After having a lot of surgeries, I was very anxious about this one. I was dreading having a sore throat, a drain in my neck and the nausea I usually had for days. Dr. Echeverri saw me before surgery, held my hand, and said a prayer with me. He is the best! I spoke w/ anesthesia then gave my husband a quick kiss. Next thing I knew I was awake in my room with my husband telling me everything went well, I had NO nausea and NO sore throat! A delicious lunch was delivered within a few minutes of my arrival to my room...and there was no need for my chloraseptic throat spray! I was so amazed that I had just had surgery and felt so good! I was discharged the next morning and everything went so smoothly. I had very little pain but my nurses were quick to get me pain medicine when I asked for it. My daughter picked me up when I was discharged and had my grandbaby in the car and my nurse was sweet enough to let my daughter and baby stay in the car and walk with me to the car. From the PAT and preregistration to arrival on surgery day to Pre-op to the OR to staying overnight to discharge to my 1 week follow-up and removal of my drain ... everything has gone better than expected. My husband and I both have told everyone how great my experience was! We were so impressed with how easy everything went and how great the overall experience had been! Thank you to everyone in Outpatient, PAT, pre-op, OR, PACU and the 6th floor. We have highly recommended you all! Thank you again for everything!

I'm so grateful for the amazing staff and caregivers at GRMC. The nurses and techs went out of their way to make sure I was taking care of and comfortable during my several days in their care. The several doctors that I worked with between the ER to surgical work as a team to make sure that nothing was missed. Phlebotomy was extra careful with my unique situation. Labs were handled with care. Yes, I know that the hospital needs an update when it comes to rooms and general ambience, but all in all... I could not have asked for a better outcome.

I come in to have a minor surgery, was met by a wonderful nurse that got me ready for said procedure. Dr. Davenport performed this procedure and everything went great. When I was heading into the surgery room I was given something to relax me. I remember getting to the door to the procedure room and that was it. They took very good care of me from start to finish. Everyone I encountered was absolutely phenomenal. Definitely recommend Gadsden Regional hospital and Dr. Davenport. (General Surgeon)

I wouldn't even give one star. Most horrible experience for my husband. So much lack of communication between doctors and doctors and nurses. He was there due to internal bleeding, he was passing large amounts of blood and throwing up blood. He was first transported to RMC in Anniston by ambulance. They transported him to Gadsden Regional to get quicker immediate care. Arrived by ambulance Sunday. I had to go to administration to get a GI doctor there, whom finally came at 5 pm on Tuesday. My husband's blood count was barely 6 when he arrived. I had to ask them to give him IV fluids. Then his IV was unhooked twice and never hooked back up. I had to tell them to hook it back up. Dr. Warren the hospital doctor is incompetent. Upon discharged he admitted to myself and my husband they dropped the ball with his care. My husband also had a concussion from falling, which happened at home, due to blood loss. This was discovered when I took him to St. Vincent's due to still being very weak and dizzy when he was discharged Wednesday. Also Upon discharge I had to ask the nurse if she was going let him leave with IV port in his arm. She said I forgot about that. All over the 7th floor IV machines were constantly beeping, patience moaning loudly. I myself took a lady back to her bed that was about to wonder out of her room. I couldn't find a nurse at all.

August 8, 2025, my 88 year old mother fell in the driveway just outside the door. She requested to go to Gadsden Regional. When she fell, she hit her right temple, right shoulder, right elbow, right wrist and right hip. At the ER they x- rayed her and insisted nothing was broken. Mom couldn't stand the pain of someone touching her right arm. I was persistent in that it should be x-rayed again as breaks don't always show up right away on x-rays. They admitted her overnight. The next day, as an aside comment, when Mom was being discharged, the Dr said her clavicle was fractured. Then he said she might need a sling. The whole time she was there no one bothered to put a sling on her. After we got home and I had time to read over the discharge paperwork I discovered that the doctor took her off medicine she had not been on for a month. He also told her to continue a medicine she wasn't on. Plus he took her off 2 of her heart meds without an explanation. You see, no one went over the discharge paperwork with us. My concern was that the doctor obviously didn't look at her current medication list. After seeing our family doctor, we found out that the ER labeled her with an AKI (acute kidney injury) without any lab work to meet the criteria. I was disappointed in the lack of responsible medical knowledge on that visit. Everyone was very nice though. One thing I struggled with was the lack of parking at the ER entrance. All the parking spots were full. The last 2 times I was there with my mom, I had to park around to the side of the whole building. I have a back problem, one disc slides off the one below. This makes it difficult and painful to walk very far. Let alone up an incline, around the side of the hospital in the rain. Where are those volunteers with the golf carts to assist people? Prior ER visit my mom had pain in her back and stomach. They got to her quickly. Placed her on a bed in the hallway. Did a urine test and x-rays. Then came and told us she was being discharged. I had to insist that we see a doctor or nurse practioner first. Actually I told them we were not leaving until we saw one of them and they told us what was causing my mom so much pain. It was a UTI. Prior ER visit. Every one from the ER reception desk, ER doctors and nurses, radiology, support staff, 6th floor nurses, surgical nurses, GI doctor, food service and 6th floor support staff were exceptionally nice and kind. I love Gadsden Regional. The ER exam rooms and halls were filled with sick people. The excellent staff did their best to keep everyone comfortable until a room upstairs could be obtained for them.

Unfortunately, I do not remember the name of the technician that administered my Doppler. She was AWESOME! Friendly, professional, efficient and made me feel very relaxed. After using this facility I will never use the hospital outpatient department again! I was in and out in under an hour. Everyone was friendly and smiling! Kudos to a great department for a great experience!! Give the all a free lunch!!

My interaction with the many nurses was awesome. They were wonderful and if I have the privilege to come to the hospital again I hope it's them that take care of me. Very satisfied. Thanks for your kindness. πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎ …

What I can remember everyone was nice to me. They were very helpful. The lady who showed me the physical therapy was very helpful. And the ladies who helped me get back and forth to the physical therapy were both very helpful. I was happy with everyone that I could remember meeting . I would also like to thank my doctor Dr. Ryan for doing my surgery.p

It was an easy process from beginning to end. Everyone was very helpful, knowledgeable and understanding of my situation. I do not have one complaint about any of the staff or doctors that were involved in the process. It could not have been better under the circumstances for my reason for being there. I would definitely 100% recommend Gadsden Regional. Thanks again!
