Apple’s iCloud appears to be experiencing issues, with unexpected downtime affecting some of Apple’s online services for a number of users.

As of 12:50 a.m. eastern Monday, AppleInsider employees were experiencing issues with several Apple services. This included iCloud outage, which is a major element affecting other services and apps with online components.

This included Mail, which became unreliable at retrieving messages for multiple employees. Some found that Apple News didn’t load stories, while Apple Music on Mac doesn’t bring up any pages at all.

Minutes after its initial release, AppleInsider employees experienced further issues with iMessage and Apple Maps.

However, the outages seem to affect users in different ways with some having normal access for some apps but not others.

At the time the outages were noted, DownDetector reported that many Apple services were receiving spikes in reports, including Apple TV+, Apple Fitness+ and the App Store. Some other disconnected services also experienced a similar spike, including PayPal, Google Maps and Plenty Of Fish.

Naturally, users took to social media to complain and find out if they were the only people affected, only to find out that they weren’t. Some posted images of DNS errors when visiting some Apple websites in a browser.

At the time of first publishing, all Apple services on the System Status page reported as “Available” with a green circle. A later update then listed a total of 11 outages, with the earliest starting at 12:32 PM. eastern.

The list of affected services as of 1:33 PM. eastern update includes:

The System Status page states that most services “may be slow or unavailable” and some “users are unable to login”.

According to Mark Gurman on TwitterNot only are Apple’s outages impacting public services, but business and retail systems are also experiencing downtime issues.

The claim was verified by a photo of Michael Billig posted to Twitter showing employees working with paper and iPhones.

Although the System Status page is visible, the System Status page for developers failed to load at all from the start of the outage.

AppleInsider will update this story as events unfold.
