Keep reading.NATURE AND SCOPE: The Graphic Designer creates materials in support of project goals that are on brand and reflect the museum’s priorities and mission. This position supports cross-functional teams within the museum and ensures continuity in brand, design and messaging across mediums and disciplines. The Graphic Designer works directly with the Marketing and Design Manager and as a member of the marketing department, helps execute the established production calendar. This position is responsible for the development and finalization of projects such as advertisements, billboards, direct mail, social media graphics, website imagery, and exhibition materials.The Graphic Designer works collaboratively with all members of the museum team to create materials to support the museum’s mission and vision.RESPONSIBILITIES: Create engaging, on-brand designs for print, digital, environmental and other media channels.Accurately update communication pieces such as brochures, signage, rack cards and digital content.Create visual assets. Film and edit video, as well as capture photographs for various museum platforms.Maintain library of visual assets. Optimize, retouch and color correct images.Package and preflight files for release to printers or media partners. Ensure artwork is consistent with industry best practices.Assist in the development of museum websites, marketing emails and other digital communications.Maintain positive working relationships with printers, media partners and other marketing vendors to ensure accurate and timely production of materials.Design and produce internal exhibition materials in collaboration with Curatorial and Exhibits Teams.Effectively utilize established production calendars to assure projects progress as needed to meet or exceed deadlines, while providing relevant updates to the Marketing and Design Manager.Show strong creative discernment and good discipline around editing of ideas. Respond to internal collaborators’ needs while balancing aesthetic considerations. Adapt to project constraints with proactive solutions.Work with the Marketing and Design Manager in execution of department goals.Support the museum’s overall strategies and operational activities within the Marketing division.Participate in all mandatory training and safety programs required and provided by the museum.QUALIFICATIONS: 2 to 3 years of prior graphic design experience.Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts or related degree.
