Job Description : Digital + Graphic DesignerOrganization Description: The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy is the nonprofit support partner of the Golden Gate National Parks—84,000 acres of national parkland throughout the Bay Area, including Muir Woods, Ocean Beach, Crissy Field, and Alcatraz. The Parks Conservancy is a membership organization created to preserve the Golden Gate National Parks, enhance the experiences of park visitors, and build a community dedicated to conserving the parks for the future.With our local and federal partners, the Parks Conservancy is committed to the work of supporting Bay Area national parks as places where we can further racial and social justice for our community and climate resilience for these protected lands.Position Overview: Join us at the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy as we deliver impactful, mission-oriented work across 84,000 acres of national parklands north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge. From Alcatraz to Muir Woods, and in 35 other iconic national park sites, the Parks Conservancy and our partners welcome people in parks.We have created a new role: a Digital + Graphic Designer to provide high-quality design concepts and complete creative projects for Parks Conservancy communications, including digital channels and print materials. For each project, the Digital Designer will ensure alignment of strategy both graphically and through messaging to ensure each piece remains on brand and furthers the Parks Conservancy’s mission.This position reports to the Director, Digital Media Communications.Key Duties and Responsibilities: Design engaging and dynamic web, social media, email, video, and print templates and content.Support the Parks Conservancy’s main website and microsites (such as our digital annual report).Build web and email templates in HTML and CSS that work on major digital devices and search engines.Drive design ideas from concept to production, from sketching and wireframing to implementation.Assist the Marketing & Communications team in developing concepts and creative campaign solutions to support organization-wide marketing and communications goals.Design, produce, and update digital marketing collateral such as social media assets, banners, web graphics, web mockups, display/Facebook ads and landing pages.Collaborate effectively with internal groups and outside partners and vendors.Layout and design print publications such as our quarterly Gateways newsletter and Annual Report.Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.Stay on top of major digital design and marketing trends to maintain best practices.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience creating mockups and wireframes and can execute designs in HTML and CSS, and knowledgeable about JavaScript.Experience with industry standard design software (such as Figma, Sketch, Photoshop).Experience with Litmus and/or Email on Acid testing is preferred.Experience with enterprise email technology (ex. Salesforce, Convio), a plus.Experience with translating comps and wireframes into flexible and usable code.Familiar with Parks Conservancy projects; or has worked with nonprofits or government agencies.Experience designing and laying out print publications in Adobe Creative Suite or similar programs.Experience creating logos, icons, and other graphic design elements.Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or Design Certification preferred.5-7 years design experience, strong portfolio.Physical Requirements and Work Environments: Work is performed in an office setting, at a computer or design equipment 6 to 8 hours per day.Health and Safety: It is the policy of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy to create and maintain a safe and healthful workplace free from recognized hazards that may cause harm to employees, consistent with and in compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
